At an early age Mel embarked on a life in the arts as a singer, song -writer and trained dancer performing all over the world, and music has always been her life. Listening to her stunning vocals you can hear the influences of artists like Trisha Yearwood, LeAnn Womack and, Faith Hill and in her music - 'Little Big Town', Florida Georgia Line, and Gone West. Mel recorded her first EP, ‘First Breath’ in 2007, with renowned producer Stuart Stuart in Brisbane. (Sheppard, The Veronicas, Caitlyn Shadbolt) In 2020 Mel released her debut single “On the Water”produced and co written with Luke Batterbury and was the feature song on WGN's US TV series, “Almost Paradise". In 2021 her single ‘Caught up in a Dream’ debuted at #10 on the iTunes Country Charts and featured on John Nutting’s Australian Country Radio Charts, as well as receiving extensive airplay across Australian radio. The music video for 'Caught up in a Dream' was quickly added to rotation on Foxtel’s CMT, soon after it's release. There have been several beautifully upbeat country pop songs released this year – perhaps as an antidote to 2020 and this is one of the best, due to Lukin’s skill as a singer as well as the construction of the song.” -Sunburnt Country. ”Caught Up In A Dream’ is a melodic, slickly-produced pop-country track with hooks for days and a message about forging your own path, regardless of what society tells you to do.- Blank Street Press GC. Melissa was placed on the lineup for the ‘Country on Keppel 2021’ music festival alongside, Brad Butcher, Matt Cornell and James Blundell and received much praise and support from her peers and the patrons.
